Running in snow, offload, is a) great fun b) a good strength workout and c) cleans your trainers better than any other method

I've been loving the snow runs. Going round a corner does turn into quite an amusing endeavour though. Unless you almost completely stop, you end up doing a crazy slide and completely lose your footing. All part of the fun though.

I meant ‘offroad’ in case anyone was wondering [emoji23][emoji23]

Managed to get out today but disappointingly felt a twinge in my right knee after 2miles, which could well be IT Band. Jesus booked in for Tuesday and have spent most of the night with the foam roller laughing at VAR on BT Sports.

Hopefully not too much of a set back as I'd love to have a crack at a flat Park Run fairly soon. No races booked in until the BM 10k so plenty of time to recover hopefully.

Good to see Ninja Elephant entered for the Phoenix. I'm one down on 10k races against him currently.

Just done 10 miles offload round the back of Holmbush. First mile cracked through some ice and both feet were submerged and soaked in a freezing puddle. Long climb up to Truleigh Hill into the east wind was just bearable thanks to my Himalayan gear and the magic snood to cover my face. After 7,278' of climbing in 8 days my legs finally felt very very weary. Was expecting it a few days earlier. Just have to struggle through a hilly long run, very early, on Sunday and then a 50% taper for 2 weeks.

I think the snow/temperature is turning this week into a semi-forced break for me. Since the HM on Sunday I've only done a slow 5 miles around Shoreham on Tuesday. I was planning to go out today but it's just so cold I don't think I can bear it. A few people have said to me I should take a break so it seems like the perfect excuse to have a few days off. I'm going to be very interested in my parkrun time on Saturday as a result. If I do well it suggests rest is good. If I am slow my fears about losing speed after inactivity will be confirmed!

I've not been out since Sunday, either - too cold. I wouldn't read too much into your parkrun time on Saturday – I've PBd after resting for a week but also had shocking runs after not getting out the week before...

General note for everyone – Worthing Half 2019 date has been confirmed: 10th February. I reckon I might just be there.

I picked up a head cold last week and only managed 3 miles on Sunday. I've been cautious about running outside but there's only so much I can do on a treadmill so decided to run 7 miles today and really enjoyed it. Part on part off load the Salomon speed cross ensured I never skipped a beat, fantastic grip in the ice.

.

Exactly. It may happen or it may not. Best for TCB to go in relaxed and enjoy it. Even if the sub 20 is there for the taking.

Just had 2 weeks with the Speedcross and very impressed. Little slippy on downhill sheet ice today on a short Tarmac section but otherwise flown over the ground whether wet mud, ice, ruts or snow.

Running in this Tuesday and Wednesday has wiped me out. Yesterdays lost path didn't help with a 2 mile hilly detour back to where I'd been. This weekend will be easy or nothing and I'll leave the heavily tapered 12 mile long run for Tuesday. Photo of Woolstonbury copied from Moyleman twitter.

Great pics......

Cold snap has coincided with a bit of posterior tibial tendinitis for me (had it before, hopefully just needs a bit of careful management) so sticking to the dreadmill this week as I can bail straight away if it starts playing up. Hoping to do a marathon (Southend Pier) next weekend.......

Good luck with that. Sounds nasty. The tendon not the Southend Pier marathon.
