My legs are knackered after Haywards Heath this morning. Knocked a minute off my last time there though.

Any suggestions for a good 10k to experiment with? Should have done Littlehampton last week. Never run more than 5k so could be interesting

Barns Green are doing a 10k now. It won't be flat but great day out.

There's one in Worthing coming up soon.................

This will be flat. (Worthing parkrun this morning - FIVE guys did sub 16. Each of them probably turned up expecting an easy win!)

First run for over three weeks - testing out my foot tendon injury. Ran the Bournemouth Parkrun, cool but sunny, nice course in the park just behind the Dean Court stadium. Usual friendly crowd, admirably restrained on the derogatory banter once they heard where I was from. Foot held up ok, but like Albion last night I didn't really go for it in the second half, so came in just under 23 minutes. As with Leicester, squeezing in a parkrun definitely adds to the away day experience.

Thanks! Is it quite competetive or are there lots of fun runners?

Saw the worthing results this morning and couldn't help but notice some of the regular sussex parkrun winners were all there. Unbelievable times.

Hi

I take it you are referring to the 10K? I think this is the 3rd Worthing 10k this year and I think they are all a bit different. There's one in the summer which used to be huge and a pretty good standard. The one in October I've not done so can't really comment. Are the results of last year's on the site? I think I recall that the October one is quite low grade and small. Of course in October (and every other bloody month!) you might cop for gale force winds but I think it's prom-based and should be very flat.
As you live in LA it is worth you doing the Worthing parkrun - it is VERY fast as the results suggest. It's beginning to attract quite a few outsiders/tourists PB hunting. Hope this helps - but it's worth checking out the website. The other guys' suggestions are defo worth checking out too.

Wouldn't try the Crystal Palace one on your travels - esp if you are wearing an Albion shirt. I like the idea of an away game/parkrun double.

Cheers. I'm a bit of an oddball and have run 80odd parkruns but never gone above 5k. So i have done most of the local ones inc Worthing, but obviously not the 10k. Considering working up to the Brighton half but not sure i can do it - i come out of a 5k nearly dieing!!

Yes, might give that one a miss - have done Leicester and B'mouth so far this season. Would have liked to have done Watford as the Cassiobury Park parkrun is walking distance from Vicarage Road, but in the end as I wasn't staying over, it would have involved too early a start for me.

Any experience of the Great South Run on here? I'm tempted to sign up for it. It's only five weeks away and I am attracted to the idea of having a big event on my running CV. But I'm also a bit concerned that there are so many runners surely the start is massively compromised?

I haven't done that one so far, I know a few on here did it last year. I'll do it at some point in my life, I view it a little bit like the London Marathon as being one to tick off but ultimately probably too big to really go at with full steam. But it's a good one to put on the CV.

I'm going to be doing the Portsmouth Marathon again, on the 17th December. It will be a bit of a view finder of a race for me, not one I'm planning to really go hard at.

I'm feeling primed for saturday's parkrun, it's my PB attack race and I have to say, I'm going to be targetting catching The Orange in the table! ;

Not done it but looks like a good event. there a 10 mile on Hayling Island in late November you might consider. Another flat one but the winds can be horrific. Great views across the harbour.

18 miles for me yesterday (2:41:55). The 6th longest run of my 62 years 9 months on the planet! Target was 2:42 so although I'm not very proud of the time, I have to be pleased with the timing. (Note: no technology employed other than a watch. This is Old School!)

I did the GSR last year. It was an excellent race, very wide roads and I found it no problem despite the number of runners. I am doing it again this year as I enjoyed it so much, friendly runners and great crowds, even the Pompey FC supporters section, probably the noisiest support on the course!

I did the Haywards Heath Park Run on Saturday. Tough course, very crowded start line, first half of the first lap very crowded and slow you down quite a lot as very little room to pass and off path was slightly wet and slippery! Despite the hills and having to do them 4 times I quite enjoyed it - only my second one after Tunbridge Wells a few months ago. I might have another pop at it this Saturday as my time was 26.20 55.13% 52/153 .

Yesterday I decided to up the miles and my plan was a 3 hour run, ended up doing 18 miles @10.05 so was very happy with that. Longest run since the Brighton marathon and I felt it in my thigh muscles! Ouch! Now on 716 miles this year, so bang on target for 1,000 miles.

Sunday I am doing the Barnes Green HM, I hear its definitely not a PB course! I will then drag my weary legs to the Amex for the Newcastle match. If anyone is doing it and needs a lift let me know as I can park at the University, so just a sort walk to the Swan then the ground.

Did the 10K Breakfast trail around Knightshayes in Devon yesterday
About 50 runners and I only won it at the grand age of 59 !!
Just felt good all the way round a few decent hills and very sticky in places but thoroughly enjoyable
