has the club taken advice 9from a tax expert) in the way it intends to apply the recent 2.5% reduction in VAT on retail and ticket purchases? surely the club can't make such arbitrary adjustments

Of course and yes the club can make these decisions, just as any other business does. All that happens is that the club's VAT bill will be calculated at 15%, on all VATable sales from now on. As we don't price things excluding VAT, the decision was made to retain a rounded value on tickets. Actually, on most of the tickets, the reduction is MORE than 2.5%. With regards to the shop, it would take about a week's work for the prices to each be adjusted, and then you would end up with silly pricing like an item that is £9.99 going down to £9.77. Therefore we felt the 10% discount was a better way forward, again a HIGHER discount.
