Caught a second one during the week but speaking to neighbours they have the same problem. Upstairs the guy has caught two in the last few months and next door has traps down. Seems they probably move between properties but I haven't seen another since catching no2.

Looks as if you're right. The seeds that the trapped mouse spilled have disappeared. I had hoped it was the one as there were very few droppings and apparently one mouse can leave 60-70 a day - I usually found between one and four. Back to the drawing board - now will the other mouse/mice...

Just been woken by the trap going off. Didn't use peanut butter in the end but put some of the bread crumbs and seeds from a multi-seed loaf down. At least it was instant - no sign of a struggle. Can't get over how small it was and after clearing the whole thing away I'll have to see if this...
