Not so bad then for you after all, sounds like you have a better choice than me.

Maybe MB is stuck with being only able to get to his local Cineworld and as such, stuck with the mainstream dross he despises, thus prejudging Hollywood corporate output. From the trailers I have seen, Bridge of Spies looks pretty good, however, I saw the trailer for Victor Frankenstein which...

You and MB are like Matter and Anti-Matter Uncle. MB needs to accept that not every film released will be a tale of an Andalusian Shepherd boys love of his life/dog/sheep/ blind Grandfather and you need to accept that Stephen Spielberg can do " average " films.

Bad move MB, you now have Uncle Spielberg on your case.

It's very polarised, it seems to be a case of big budget sci fi/ superhero/ cuddly animation v Biopics/ Kooky screwball "comedy "/coming of age films.

Saw this this afternoon, Cusack was not to bad but Dano's portrayal is SO good it's difficult to match. Quite an enjoyable film, great listening to the genesis of some of the songs...quite moving.

Looks like she has been on the wrong end of several Bird Strikes.

I finally managed to catch possibly the last showing of Shaun The Sheep, managed to get to the Cineworld in the Marina at ridiculous 'o'clock with Mrs V. Well, what a delight. I had heard the reviews and had want to see this for some time and I was not disapointed, and neither was Mrs V as she...

You are obviously easily pleased. The longer it went on the slower it got. A bloke in front if me got up and walked our after about 2 hours. I was desperately trying not to look at the time on my phone in case we were only 2 hours in. When the sudden end came, it was a blessed relief.

Saw Boyhood at the DoY's this morning/afternoon. This much hyped film failed to live up to its billing as far as I was concerned. There are some moments of drama and some witty dialogue but most of the film was quite slow without ever going anywhere. About 2 hours in to the film father and son(...

Surprised you saw it like that MB, and, a review which is considerably less surreal than normal ! However, we should all be uplifted that currently we seem to be experiencing a rich vein of quality releases at the moment. In fact I was heartened by the huge amount of Oscar nominations for The...

This sort of thing often happens to me, I cease caring for the characters and so just let it all wash over me and I start thinking of what I'm going to cook for dinner/ my shopping list/ going fishing/are the tides right ? Fortunately I have been pretty lucky in recent years apart from Letters...

Sorry to hear about your bad back, I used to suffer awfully myself until about 3 years of visits to a Chiropractor sorted me out. Do the exercises you can and watch your posture MB, will check in on Thursday for your Birdman critique

It's difficult to be sure isn't it ? some of the comedy moments are brilliant, some of the complicated bits , overcomplicated. It certainly made me think. Edit : I'm awaiting with interest the review from Meade's Ball !

I can understand that, I'm still hoping there will be a big screen version of The Clangers. Mind you, if the plot revolves around a plot to turn The Clangers in to cuddly toys I will not be happy.

Paddington a " Triumph " ? Someone must have given you some dodgy Jelly beans Uncle ? A good start but downhill all the way once the " evil " Kidman turned up. It's difficult to be kept on the edge of your seat worrying that a CGI bear might/might not get stuffed.

Yes but they are not distracting, you do have to concentrate though and there are lots of walk through scenes as the camera follows one of the leads through the theatre backstage.

I agree, after a good start it became very formulaic with an unlikely evil nemesis and a contrived rescue plot. Pity.
