Dale Stephens Summer 2016 shenanigans (Merged Thread)

Oh well  I believe that it was only when he handed in his transfer request that Burnley exceded the £8m offer. If we had gladly taken it DS would have deserved a pat on the back foir getting us a maximum price for him. His request could have worked in our financial favour too but we...

That's a bit deep. Not sure what you are trying to say either

The contract that we offered him may be worth £2k extra a week so it should be in his best financial interest to sign it, even if begrudgingly.

He doesn't say he doesn't believe we are good enough to be promoted this season. I very much doubt that he would sabotage his team mates when he is on the pitch either. As it stands he has probably got to motivate himself even more this season to attract Prem clubs when his contract ends. To...

Dale Stephens Summer 2016 shenanigans (Merged Thread)

I don't have a problem with his tweet because we now know how he stands. As long as he does the job that he is contracted to, and doesn't sabotage his team mates it's not really an issue for me. To be fair though there are worse clubs to be stuck at, like Burnley next season. One thing to bear...

I'm surprised we didn't let him go for £7m, maybe he has been using Burnley to spark interest from other northern clubs?

I didn’t mention what Burnley was like as a place. All I said was that their fans are the most unsporting and hostile supporters on the English football circuit. That is a fact. Derby would be a better move long term.

Dale Stephens Summer 2016 shenanigans (Merged Thread)

Wouldn't surprise me. Does DS really want to go to Burnley anyway. I think that if he did we would have surely accepted £7m. All Burnley have got going for them is that they are in the prem (this season). Other than that they have a bog standard 22k capacity ground and constantly booiung fans...

Kayal is a pest for the opposition and seems to do most of his work ahead of DS. A player like DS needs a someone like Kayal to partner up with.

Dale Stephens Summer 2016 shenanigans (Merged Thread)

I can't make sense of a player handing in a (transfer request?) and us turning down a £7m bid for him, unless he really doesn't fancy going to Burnley, and is waiting for other other clubs to make an offer. Even with this though, it doesn't really make sense to hand in a transfer request on the...
