    [Football] VAR who decides?

From the Sky article: I understand what you're saying. Having goal celebrations on hold for several minutes while we wait for a decision to be made would be seriously shit. At the same time, so many incidents get missed, which seem unfair, which don't 'even themselves out over the course of a...

    [Football] VAR who decides?

A much better article: https://news.sky.com/story/video-referees-questions-answered-ahead-of-fa-cup-debut-11200001 I was wrong. VAR can be used to award penalties for incidents not seen, and issue red cards for off the ball incidents that were missed. VAR will only be used for offsides if a...

    [Football] VAR who decides?

The BBC and Argus articles seem to suggest (to me), but don't make 100% clear, otherwise. It is getting complicated - I think I’ll just sit back and observe the inevitable shambles that will occur. Although I do think it will be a good thing in the long run, once the problems are ironed out.

    [Football] VAR who decides?

I'm just quoting The Argus, where they seem to be talking about potential red card offences that the officials missed.

    [Football] VAR who decides?

This example is clearer to me, as there was a potential foul in the build up that led to a goal that had been awarded. But what about if the foul was a clear and obvious red card offence that the ref missed, and Juve didn't score. Can the potential red card offence then be reviewed?

    [Football] VAR who decides?

Perhaps, I've only really read the BBC and Argus articles on the rules. On the BBC website it says: On The Argus website it says: This gave me the impression missed red card offences and other things that have been missed cannot be reviewed. Is there another article where this is explained...

    [Football] VAR who decides?

Why would is discourage defenders from shirt pulling? As I understand, VAR can only review decisions when the referee has issued or awarded something e.g. awarded a penalty for shirt pulling, but made a clear and obvious error in doing so as there was no shirt pulling. So if defenders get away...

    [Football] VAR who decides?

You caught me before my edit.  A poor example I used there, obviously. My point was that VAR, as I understand, cannot be used to award/issue goals, penalties or red cards that the officials have not awarded/issued - so a better example would be if a player stops a ball on the...

Can the offside ruling work the other way? I didn't think it could. I thought the decision could only be reviewed if the officials had awarded a goal from an offside position.

    [Football] VAR who decides?

So it is only to be used when there is a clear and obvious error in a decision an official has made, but cannot be used if a clear and obvious error has been made by the referee in not making a decision e.g. in not awarding a penalty or giving someone a red card. That's going to cause...
