Have been thinking about the TdF recently. Its going to be an interesting edition with the riders in all kinds of form. No post Giro fatigue, at the same time not much preparatory racing, plus Ineos' triad.

As Jens Voight said why did Froome cross the white line in the wet on a corner, schoolboy error

I think I am more impressed by Dumoulin's ride than Froome's. Can imagine him winning future GTs in a similar manner to Wiggins.

Dumoulin must be able to sustain some pretty mental wattage. That was a very impressive ride!

I was literally struggling to stay awake during that, massive snoozefest.

Froome's to lose now, and I can't see that happening unless a fan takes him out again. The others will be racing and marking for the podium and other positions.

Yep, getting blown all over the place in the crosswinds! The sections that are straight into the wind must be horrible.

    Tough conditions for a TT!

So were those behind not held up in the melee that followed?

If they are going to start making up rules one of them will not be penalising Froome for that, even if it is technically not allowed.

I doubt they will have all the times, last time it was the times at 3 km that were used, don't think they can do that this time?

Not sure how they will sort this out, or if they will. I guess the only thing they could do is give Froome and Porte the same time as Mollema, but then those behind were slowed so that wouldn't be fair?

WTF! Looks like the barriers weren't far enough down the road, probably because the line got pushed back by 6km. Too many fans not enough barriers.

Wasn't there a stage finish on Mont Ventoux 20/30 years ago where a 'big' sprinter got in a break and won?! Completely different era I suppose! Edit: nope it was a stage that went over ventoux in 1994 that Eros poli won.

On the subject of doping and a cleaner peloton I have definitely noticed that riders interviewed post race always seem as though they have just been racing for the past 4 or so hours and sprinting at the end and not just having been on a half hour spin. That is very telling IMO.

That punch was a little over the top IMO! The bloke probably has a minor concussion after that, wasn't even that much of a nob as far as they go. Imagine if he had lamped the hog taxidermist :nono:

Yeah good point about the bonus seconds, it has clearly paid off, still surprised he attacked in that manner on a descent!

That must've been planned, although for 13 seconds seemed a risky move. Still fortune favours the brave.
