The ST updating issue is nothing to do with the sharing scheme. I’ve shared my ticket this week and believe me: it was a piece of piss. It’s human nature to not like change, but I’m fairly confident the moaning will stop once people get used to the ease and flexibility of the process.
It really isn’t complex. In fact it’s far more convenient being able to simply forward an email containing a print-at-home ticket rather than having to arrange supply and return of a season ticket card!
Fair enough; it’s a personal choice and, like you, I’ve taken the official route and transferred my ST to the usual recipient when I can’t go, who has bought an Albion+ membership.
I don’t think there’s much chance of ID checks being implemented though, unless the person you give it to is...

In reality you only need one person prepared to buy a membership. The STH still gets sent the email with the electronic ticket that can be either downloaded to a wallet or printed at home, and it’s up to them to forward it to the named Albion+ member. You could easily forward it to someone else...
I’m talking about them selling one of the 900+ tickets they have left on general sale. They’d rather sell them, or most of them, at full profit before they start selling STH returns at lower profit.
