    Dunk - Refusing to play?

And turn down 5m in transfers as well as paying Dunk's wages for 3 years?

    Dunk - Refusing to play?

Is he? They have published plenty of speculation but don't seem to have broken much news about transfers that have actually happened, not before I've read about it on here anyway.

    Dunk - Refusing to play?

I'm fairly sure their sources include, and are probably limited to, this thread.

    Dunk - Refusing to play?

That sounds familiar. However, I've found another: footstats.co.uk. It does indeed show that we reached sixth on 11th Jan - I certainly didn't remember that - with a 1-0 win v Brum. This was after Barnes had played his last league game for us, coming on as a late sub in the 1-1 home draw...

    Dunk - Refusing to play?

So we weren't top 6 when Barnes was still playing for us then - his last league game would've been Jan 1st. Anyone got a link to tables on specific dates? I did find one once, but can't relocate it. It was quite interesting to look back at how our position moved about in previous seasons -...

    Dunk - Refusing to play?

I can't find any league tables for January 2014, but we definitely weren't sixth when Barnes left - from memory, we got into the top six for the first time that year after our consecutive wins against Leicester and Charton. As for replacing Dunk. I'm confident that we'll be able to do that for...

    Dunk - Refusing to play?

Without him we reached the playoffs, having not been in the top 6 all season until about April. And after that he would have left on a free to newly promoted Burnley, so we would have still struggled last year.

    Dunk - Refusing to play?

He joined Southampton this time last year didn't he?

    Dunk - Refusing to play?

I don't agree with the first bit: Last year we had Greer, Dunk, Hughes and Halford. Two of those left this summer, so even if Rea is seen as a replacement for one, it still left is short of an experienced centre back. The second part of what you've written is spot on. Most of us would switch...

    Dunk - Refusing to play?

Selling Barnes, with only 4-5 months left on his contract, didn't exactly come back to haunt us either. Ulloa and Lingard were probably a better combo than Barnes and Ulloa.

    Dunk - Refusing to play?

I agree; it's a crap analogy. If would be amazing if you could get transfer fees for your girlfriends though.

    Dunk - Refusing to play?

If the reported bid is true, it could be argued that Fulham are strengthening our team by injecting 5m into the playing budget, in exchange for a player that we can probably replace for about a third of that.

    Dunk - Refusing to play?

If he goes, and it leaves these two as first choice centre backs and with the fee used to fund a back up centre back (in addition to Rea) and some attacking FLAIR - Tex has been mentioned today - then Albion fans have got to be happy surely?
