Indeed. For example If I was a Lankum fan and had tickets to Latitude I would be very worried about whether they turn up…

I think it will, although there might be more turbulence yet. Barclays are not even the lead sponsor, like they are for Latitude, Download, Isle of Wight and many other festivals. TGE is relatively independent in comparison. Interesting times ahead as Latitude’s line up In particular may be...

Anyone got any tips for The Great Escape festival next month?

Thanks for the heads up on those. Big Thief is deffo pricey. Decent live but not great or anything. Quick question: Since Resident Records stopped selling tickets I’ve struggled to always keep on top of gig announcements in the city. How do people track them? Both Songkick and Dice notify me of...

Mutations Festival was great. Top 3 performances for me: Squid, BCNR and Murder Capital.

Mutations: Of course not 😀. That said, my expectations are lowered - nothing beats his show at TGE. Sad that Benefits cancelled - they were the one thing on the undercard I was interested in. I’ve seen the rest live before and not been bothered. Thanks for the tips around Primaevra. Need to...

Yeah Shame and JOHN were already on my schedule. Thanks for the tips - Egyptian Blue have been added to my schedule. Opus Kink released an ep earlier this year that 6music got behind - ‘St.Paul’s of the Tarantulas’ is a killer track. I saw them live last year and they were good. On another...

Mutations Festival has a more than decent line up this year. Really looking forward to seeing Squid again and BC,NR for the first time. I know from this thread you attend a lot of gigs - any recommendations of things further down the bill? Only Opus Kink are a 'must see' outside of the...

Lucy Dacus was excellent at All Points East last week. Definitely recommend. Mutations Festival have announced their line up. Superb imo. Squid, BCNR, Warmduscher, Bob Vylan, etc. Festival has 850 capacity - I’d guess it will sellout with that line up.

After a quiet couple of months a busy week for me with: - LIFE at Resident Records on Thurs - All Points East on Fri (The National headline) - Victorious Festival on Sun with wife/kids. First proper live music for the kids.

Kills Birds are playing Green Store Door on 16th August. Their live shows have been getting great reviews over the last couple of months. Best thing about it? It’s buy one get one free on tickets through the National Lottery. Including fees £12.50 for 2 tickets on www.ticketweb.co.uk. Bargain.

Fontaines DC were superb - they really have been on fire since gigs returned last summer. They’ve developed so much since 2019 (when they were still decent). Part of me was sad at the end knowing that was surely the last time they play a gig in Brighton that isn’t at the Centre. It’s never as...

Kiwanuka for me tomorrow as well. It’s been a long wait…. Would love to hear what BCNR are like as I believe they are playing all new material? Should be interesting for those going!

Fontaines DC playing Chalk on 29th May via Resident Records. Handful of tickets left apparently. Could easily sell out the Centre and so this is tiny for them.

You prob made the right choice in skipping with those choices as John cancelled last minute due to a broken foot. Fortunately they were my only clash on the day and so an easy switch to Courting (who were shambolic).

I managed to avoid the Newcastle depression by venue hopping around the city via Mutations Festival. I saw 7 full sets which works out at £3.97 per act! Excellent value and well run - all stages ran to time. Clear and obvious highlights were local band KEG and Yard Act. The latter were quite...

I’m looking for 2 tickets to Sports Teams rescheduled Resident Records ‘outstore’ on Mon 16th Aug. Will pay £30 for 2 tickets. You can email Resident up to 12th August to change the names on the guest list so easy to do. Anyone with tickets to sell?

For posterity, here's what a socially distanced gig looks like: The one below is not my own but shows you the layout Squid had: Obviously its not the same as a hot, sweaty room. The pit for 'Houseplants' at Horatios in May 2019 was something else. But given the circumstances, its the best...
