[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

Had it all been done and dusted promptly, it would have been the season before. You know that season where Wycombe finished 8th and got promoted! In all serious, I kind of agree that the Wycombe claim has more legitimacy, at least one could argue that Derby were the beneficiaries in that case...

[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

Yeah, and maybe I was a bit flippant but a bit fed up with half truths around all this :-)

[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

Nope, the process around the ground sale is done, the EFL and then Middlesbrough failed in that 'prosecution'. Middlesbrough are claiming their £45m because they missed out on the play offs once (on EFL appeal) it was concluded that Derby broke 'FFP' rules. Wycombe are claiming some sort of...

I don't think Candy Crush was that bad?

[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

Sounds good on paper but what happens in this scenario? Do the EFL, who appear to think Boro and Wycombe have a valid claim and just hand over the cash?

[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

Yes, after the EFL appealed the original decision. Neither them nor 'Boro. At the end of the day we've been punished in accordance with the rules (after appeal), why on earth are the EFL continuing to countenance these claims? What next? Team denied a penalty sues the ref?

[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

There was a Viz letter back in the day, went along the lines of "What a con the merseyside Derby is, Derby never play in it, no wonder Liverpool always win", made me laugh.

[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

    1) Quite. 2) Boro/Wycombe know they couldn't win, that's why they struck when Derby went in to admin. 3) The QPR thing has been mentioned, and Villa, the only difference between Derby and a long list of other clubs is that we didn't get any benefit!

[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

As I wrote just now, the appeal was from the EFL and Boro, Derby won the original case, bought by the EFL. 100% the punishment has been accepted. 21 points AND have been in a transfer embargo since the autumn of 2020. Honestly, literally nobody is talking about trying to overturn the punishment...

[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

Nah, the accounts in question were submitted a long time ago, the argument was about how they were presented, firstly the panel found in Derby's favour then it was the EFL AND Boro that appealed. No doubt the Boro part of that appeal delayed the process so why not sue them? The point is though...

[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

Coming back to this - There may be as case for Wycombe but if so why did it not materialise until Derby went in to admin? Same for the Boro claim. It is because they were chancing it, they didn't have a leg to stand on in court but knew that a weakened club may be ripe for cash. Fundamentally...

[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

Fair to say you have fonder memories of him than we do then :-) It's an odd quirk of fate that parts of our current position can be traced to back to the weeks leading up to the signing of Butterfield (and Bradley Johnson), there was cautious optimism under new boss and former Real Madrid cone...

[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

You may be surprised to know that Middlesbrough not intervened last year in a bid to be part of the case then it very like would have been last season.... You obviously never say Jacob Butterfield and Ikecha Anya :D

[Football] Derby docked nine (more) points

If those are the rules then fine but they're not, much as the EFL board want this to happen. The punishment had been accepted, 9 points for FFP, 12 for admin. They've been under an embargo for over a year and this week couldn't even renew a 6 month contract due to the actions of Boro and...

These multiple punishments are borderline cruel and unusual, I realise sympathy may be in short supply here but if you do feel like lending a bit of support, you may sign the petition...
