If it contributes to even ONE player just doubting whether it is worth the hassle to report abuse then it has had a HUGELY negative effect.. "Just" being booed in that game has been followed up with:
-Days of press.
-Lovely 'spokespeople' from Burnley saying "he set himself up nicely for that"...
Let me put this to you. I cover my mouth and you hear what you believe is me saying something truly horrific about your family. I mean, really quite awful. No one else heard what I said. Only we know what I actually said.
You tell people around you and they say "thing is, he covered his mouth...
"He’s not the first away player to be booed at a football ground. Burnley players have received some horrendous abuse from Brighton fans on our trips down to the Amex, so I don’t see any difference.”
It's almost SO bad that it's funny.
Almost.
If I was saying the guy on my left was saying "Booooo" and the person next to me was shouting "ooo ooo oooo" I would not need them to add the "arm pit movement" to help me realise what they are doing.
I would say my hearing is average to good.
I would also be changing seats straight away.
Let's break this one down.
Great news
It's an accusation, it's being investigated. Nothing has been blown out of proportion
Yep. That's a thing.
Again, yep. That's the idea.
Quite a post:lolol:
I agree, If someone has indeed done a monkey chant than that is monumentally silly.
Of course, it's not silly at all for the police to look into an allegation of racism.
This may appear to be a bit of stirring but it's a genuine question.
Has anyone from Burnley FC come out and commented on this? You know, a simple Burnley FC do not condone the negative treatment directed towards Mr Bong during Saturdays game. Or a "We would like to reiterate the comments by...
Indeed. Do you know what, we all do stupid things in a pack mentality.
Thankfully I know I wouldn't ever be THAT stupid, but I would have a lot more time if some said "Yes, I did boo.....but actually I now realise that it was really quite stupid for reasons I perhaps didn't comprehend in the...
I've always thought this with Millwall fans and now with this example.....
There must be some lovely, normal, well mannered people who go along to watch their football club (Burnley) and, on Saturday, sit there in absolute disgust and the sheer stupidity of some of 'their own' and just think...
So, Chris Hughton criticised the booing for the message it sends
The FA criticise the booing for the message it sends
Kick it Out criticise the booing for the message it sends.
But its ok, the people who did boo have told us why it was absolute fine.
As long as they are happy.
