Is there such thing as a Sussex, or even Brightonian accent?
My mistake. Brighthelmston did not come into being until 1493, before that it was Brichtelmeston and prior to that Bristelmestune. Ps my family all used to have Sussex accents being farming folk

You must then remember that it was not called Brighton when you originated but Brighthelmstone !
