Yeah certainly nothing to lose with the chillis. if you don't get anything this year, you could always continue growing them into next year and get an early crop.
Thanks for your comments on the Rock Garden. Yep i'm still there aided and abetted by Jack Straw (the boss) who must share some of...
Nooooooooooo....still way too early mate. Unless you can keep them in an unheated greenhouse or porch, i'd leave them for another month. We've had a ground frost almost every day this week in Lewes and temps in my greenhouse have been down to 3 C
You could probably get away with sweet peas...
Hope you do ok with that mate but it's a bit late to be sowing Chillis for any crop this year. I sowed mine in january and ive grown them in a warm conservatory and the plants are only 1-3" tall, depending on variety.
I made my own. If you go to a Wyvale or paradise park garden centre, they sell things called sun tunnels....basically a large tray with a clear plastic cover over it. I bought a couple of reptile heat mats from ebay and ive got a large propagator. I sow my chillis and toms in shallow takeaway...
My 10 x 8 greenhouse at home stood up fine to the storms. All my seed trays have been filled and watered so tomorrow, i'll be sowing 7 varieties of tomato, 7 varieties of chilli and 3 varieties of sweet peppers.
Anyone in Brighton today, there's seedy sunday http://www.seedysunday.org/ They had the same in Lewes yesterday and i got most of my chilli seeds from there.
