It's lovely. Well I like it anyway. :) There's always been a commercialism around Christmas. Some of it is cheery, festive, generous and jovial. Some of it is crass. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater here. And especially not on Christmas Eve. :)

We love Christmas in the UAE. Huge Christmas trees in the malls and hotel foyers beautifully decorated, festive activities, etc. A pluralistic society, most Western companies will frequently give their staff Christmas Day off in addition to the Eids and other days.
