Fair enough re being able to do it every week (and I'll be at Eastbourne parkrun this week and the next week etc). The point I was trying (poorly) to make is that IMO Bexhill 5k is the quickest course around so a good chance to achieve a PB. I haven't run at Hove for a while but given its...

How close are you at the moment a) to sub 20 b) to your 40th Birthday? If you can stay 39 until the end of May 2015 the Bexhill seafront 5k is your best shot - flat and fast if the wind keeps down:wink:

I think it depends when you start - I'm 46 and have PBs at 5k, 10k and HM this year but then I only started running 3 years ago and was very slow to begin with so perhaps not surprising. Might be harder to sustain that level of improvement if you've been running for longer though.

Any NSCers doing the Firle HM (or 5/10km) this weekend? Looks like the course changes should make it slightly easier but could do with a slight drop in temperature IMO even with the standard downs breeze:smile:

Running in the relay (3 x 3.33 miles) at HHeath on Sunday with two of my sons, both much quicker than me so hope I don't let the side down:eek: Barcombe 10k for me on the Monday rather than Burgess Hill but good luck to anyone doing the whole three days.

The current copy of Runners World magazine has a decent article called "Start Running Today" which is worth a look. It has training schedules and plenty of good advice on motivation and planning etc - best £4.50 you'll ever spend - some of the content is probably availble on the online version...

Well done Postman Pat - agree the hill was tough but good to get it out of the way early on. I was struggling from mile 8 onwards but somehow kept hitting my 8 min/mile targets to knock nearly four mins of my PB which was at Bexhill which I think is an easier course (bar the repeated turn round...

Depends what sort of mood I'm in/surroundings but like to do 8-10k cross country runs with Danny Baker podcast on - hard to beat IMO
