As a crap runner, not one of the experts on here, I would nonetheless entirely echo their sentiments.
My first marathon, I just trained by putting miles in, there were days where I told myself that five miles wasn't enough and it needed to be at least ten to have any value. So I'd trundle round...
I didn't do any running, but I did walk about 6 miles while cheering for all the Brighton marathon runners, & I've decided to sign up again to run next year when entry opens.
Got to trim a bit more off my last time.
I agree, he'll be fine.
I've done two. The first one I went off a bit quicker than I should have done as I was trying to keep pace with a couple of friends (both 6ft+ guys with a much faster natural pace than me). I was in a lot of pain by not very far in.
The second, one of my friends had a...
I said my first one would be my last one. And then I decided to have another go this year.
Right now, this feels like a bad, bad idea. What was I THINKING? :lolol:
Done just over 20 miles this afternoon, a couple of days ahead of schedule, the weather was nice, and my legs feel pretty much OK now, so I am chuffed with that. Plus it means I don't have to spend the weekend now with 20 miles looming over me (had originally pencilled it in for Monday).
A few...
Having had two grim runs at the weekend (19 miles & 8 miles), both of which felt horrendous, I went out tonight for a cheeky 6 miles just to blow the cobwebs off, and it felt great. I don't really get how runs can feel so different, but I feel really encouraged just from that one short run, and...
Hmmm. Well I did around 19 miles on Friday (iPhone packed up half way round in the cold & wet so not sure of exact distance). It felt rubbish, I was light headed & struggling for the last couple of miles. I prepared normally, so I think the blood thing really did make a difference. Oops...
Four days off coming up. Was going to do a long run tomorrow but remembered I have a blood donor appointment. I figured 20 miles followed by losing a pint of blood might make for an uncomfortable evening.
So I'm reckoning on 10 or 12 in the morning, then a big 20 on Saturday, in the absence of...
Did 10 miles this afternoon after 15 on Friday, 6 weeks to go to the Brighton marathon.
Which, incidentally, I seem to have agreed to run for REMF after a couple of drinks on Friday night. Any other REMF runners on here??
Quick question: does anybody else use the adidas MiCoach app to track their runs?
I've always thought the timing on it was a bit of a puzzle but never actually bothered to check it until now. Timed myself on a run tonight using both that and a stopwatch, & according to my watch, I'm running...
14.5 miles yesterday and feel pretty good on it today.
First run of the year that hasn't been in rain, snow, freezing temperatures or icy pavements. Just glorious sunshine. Amazing the difference that makes.
Having had a year off after my first- and what I SWORE would be my only- marathon in 2011, the temptation has got too great and I've somehow found myself entering the ballot for the 2013 London marathon. Knowing that it's about a one in eight shot that I'll get a place, I've also entered...
