[Albion] Safe Standing at the AMEX

It's a forum and safe standing is the topic. If there is a better argument for introducing rail seating other the to try and eliminate the supposed risk of falling over the seat in front (I've yet to see statistics showing that it's a problem) you haven't told us. Increasing capacity would...

Sorry if you find it abrasive, just commenting. The negligible risk I referred to was replacing falling over a seat with falling and hitting a rail. You refer to a sizeable number who would be pleased. Are these the same that stand in the north stand anyway! The club survey didn't demonstrate...

I haven't said it introduces any other risk. You're the one who seems to live in fear of falling over the seat in front of you. It seems to me that you're asking Tony Bloom to stump up several million so you can carry on doing what you currently do but with a rail in front of you. Explain to...

Pretty much sums up where I'm at.

I'm not necessarily dismissing the risk, but you seem happy to replace one negligible risk with another. There are many risks around a stadium, in fact there are many in every day life. We don't eliminate them all or replace one risk with another. That said we seem to be going off at a weird...

Spot on re Palace. It's laughable how for years we've been giving flack to Parrish/Palace for forcible moving long terms fans to accommodate the ultras yet here we with some fans suggesting we do the same.

I think that's irrelevant, Sid's requirement for installing rail seating is to prevent a major injury to someone in a scenario that hasn't happened in 10 years of the Amex. Of course, we will need to put padding around the rail itself in case someone slips and bangs their head on it!!!

From all that, all I can see is that you are justifying purely because of some safety issue that isn't really an issue. It's easy to dismiss the cost but then it won't be the fans that pay for, at least not up front. As for having a six footer standing in front of you, that will could still...

Firstly, not pulling rank, just making observations. Also, I'm not against it per se, I just find some of the arguments nonsensical. I agree, people standing up generally generate a better atmosphere but people already stand in the North Stand. You make some comments about safety yet in 10...

But the assumption by many is that once you fit rail seating then all the people in the North Stand that don't currently sing will either start singing or be replaced by people that will. My recollection of the north stand at the Goldstone was that the singing section was the bit in the middle...

I take it you're not a regular at the Amex. A very large proportion of the North Stand stand already so I don't see how you can use that as an argument for increasing the atmosphere.

I'm guessing the club have ignored the large number of accidents in the North Stand from people falling over the seats then!!!!

So what's the difference between standing in front of your seat in the back four rows of the north stand as it is and standing behind an allocated rail seat? If you stand at the moment then what exactly are you seeking to change?

Have to agree with this. I sit in WSU but stand at pretty much every away game but I'm standing in front of the seat allocated. People have this nostalgic view of the old terraces but that isn't going to return.

Doesn't matter what they install, under current legislation I they can't use it. As for the hospitality suite, how was that displacing anyone? NSC has had plenty of fun criticising them up the road when they displaced long term fans at the behest of their so called ultras. Isn't it the same...

They've installed it but are they allowed to use it yet? Spurs had rail seats installed but as far as I'm aware they haven't yet used them as safe standing for football.

I might be wrong but I don't recall the wording of the question being that slanted. A more accurate poll though would be to canvass just the North Stand to see what people there would prefer. I would be very surprised if a majority was achieved asking everyone but targeting it a those in the...
