To a degree it will be……so many people having decided it’s over and no caution whatsoever is necessary, or the mentalists that have decided it’s some kind of conspiracy.
Precisely…….also as mentioned by others, if me wearing a mask makes someone else (who might be vulnerable) feel a little bit safer when I’ve popped into to co-op or whatever then it’s a tiny inconvenience worth putting up with in enclosed spaces.
It does need more research of course, but that statement is simply not true though is it……….there are loads of papers and articles examining mask efficacy. Here’s just one example (that cites numerous - dozens of - other pieces of research) :

I know- but point being if customers can't be forced/arsed to wear them for 20 minutes, why should the staff have to for several hours ? Start with the customers..............
Yep - we were in London for a couple of days last week. Very regular announcements and loads of posters on the tube saying masks are required and 75% of people ignoring them, and no enforcement at all that I saw. Even if it's made 'mandatory' public compliance now has been pretty much lost.
It's low relative to the peak we experienced, but it's not low in a global context - we're amongst the highest globally at the moment, and numbers are increasing week on week. 223 reported yesterday was the highest since March.
How can you pinpoint the precise moment you caught a cold ????
I'm happy to wear a mask in confined settings - travelled a bit on planes and trains recently (mandatory on planes/in airports, 'advised' on trains) and been 'mixing' more. It's really no big deal and even the benefit is marginal...
