Last summer we were able to socialise outdoors in fairly large groups and indoors with social distancing protocols. I am not talking about lockdown but measures to ensure whilst increase mixing happens we put as much in place as we can to stop covid transmissions.

Will be a lovely moment when that eventually happens but we shouldn't rush it, I really don't think this should be dropped until everyone has been vaccinated fully. We can cope with this summer if it is similar to last summer, the worst thing that can happen is a premature relase allowing a...

Oxford/AZ jab now being cancelled for under 30s, I imagine anyone between 30-50 would be highly sceptical on taking it now. Why is it unsafe for them but safe for us??

I think you're right, whilst this is hopefully the last national lockdown I expect there will be localised lockdowns like Leicester and Manchester last summer where there are local flare ups, which are inevitably likely to be in areas with lower take-up of the vaccine.

We must do more to try and get these groups vaccinated, I can't see a total route out of lockdown unless we've got significant percentages of all communities protected otherwise it can still run through like wildfire in these unprotected groups.

Early studies suggest the Oxford/AZ jab us significantly less effective against the SA variant, extremely worrying considering it now appears that variant and other similar mutations are now in community transmission.

I've got something called a cavernoma in my spinal cord which makes exercise and much of general life difficult, I try and get out for walks if possible but because of my issue I am unable to run or do any sustained physical exrercise, swimming I find is best but of course they've been mainly...

I won't lie, this petrifies me, I know of young people who have been struck down by it and are struggling weeks and months on and I know of relatives of friends and colleagues who have died from it, as a morbidly obese middle aged man I fear that I would really struggle if I was affected by it...

Problem is though the real time data out of Israel seems to suggest the efficacy of the first jab is not actually 'very good' though. The 2nd jab appears to be more than a booster and for our most vuknerable they really need that 2nd jab before we can contemplate any meaningful easing of...

Certainly appears even if Israel is not entirely accurate the efficacy on the Pfizer is much below the 89% touted leaving many millions very vulnerable until they've received their 2nd jabs and had the 3 weeks to build up an imune response which will even at a good lick probsbly take us into June.

Very concerning piece in the Guradian regarding the South African variant of Covid and thet it appears that the antibodies it produces are 8 times less effective at beasting off Covid than the other strains currently known. If this is the cases even with a full vaccination programme it is...

I think the pressure on the health service will go on for a while longer, we can't just wait until numbers in hospital are down we need to wait until we've releived nearly all of the pressure from covid on the NHS as for them when this is over they will have a massive backlog of other issues to...

I note the Scottish Health minister said she thinks the current lockdown will need to go on for 3 months, so until mid April before we go back to a toughened up tier system and that many lockdown measures would need to be continued over the summer to keep case rates low before the inevitable...

Suggestions the population will have to be vaccinated bi-annually to keep a control on this virus as it is likely as the virus mutates and continues to thrive even once the adult population has been vaccinated it will still be a big threat particularly over winters hence the suggestion some...

It's one thing asking pharmacies to do flu jabs, as they are accustomed to in anticipation of the flu season before it is really in transmission to preventt flu through the winter it is quite another to do jabs on a far more transmissible and deadly virus whilst we are in the absolute worst of...
