They're hoping that they can find events, partners, the community (end of sseason awards for grassroots football clubs ? ) interested in something (that the lounges don't currently offer) - but you're right - i'm guessing it will be limited at first
Its not an outdoor venue. Its enclosed and the plans show the flexibility to have it doors/shutters shut or open depending on the weather / time of year -as per many venues - and obviously there is heating. etc.
Again. Its improved - toilets, shelter, better range of food/drink concessions...
From what i can tell given the various comments from National Highways, the Police, the public, environmental health etc - all of whom are supportive- there seems to be no issue with this going ahead .
There were 4 public comments to the planning app , one was anonymous / not available , one negative , two positive.

This is going to bring additional football fans to the local neighbourhood extending the time they are in the area creating additional...
I think they've already undertaken some of that - improved signage, the LED screens next to the shop and round the back of the East Stand, a lot of repainting - but i don't think anything else material is planned. They are planning some sort of "green living roof" - if you look in the planning...
Barber said the capacity should be "1000 +" and "more" if the weather was ok, hence a bigger footprint and stressed that this is of course "at anyone time" . Obviously people will come and go.
there's a lot of worrying on this thread isn't there ! ha ha. (Its too small, its too big, it will...
Yes. although footprint is slightly smaller . Plans and mock ups can be seen via https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/news/3754688/see-inside-stunning-proposed-fan-zone/
Again - i'm just going on what has been reported but Barber says capacity is - subject to planning - going to be 1000+ at any one time . More on "sunny days" . I think Dicks is about 200/300 at any one time.
Yep. The pictures just illustrate that it *can* be open to the elements, rather than it...
Well we are speculating - but it wouldn't make sense if it was open to the elements all the time, there would be risks to safety, electrics etc . . There must be shutters / doors anyway - what happens when its locked up. ?
The capacity is , as far as i can tell, going to be considerably bigger. Why do you think its going to be cold or not have heating ? Don't similar venues do this ?
I'm guessing that the mock ups just illustrate what its like on a sunny day and thus the capacity is extended by opening up the sides on days like that ...looks like from one of the pix that there will be shutters etc to come down if it rains etc.
that Barber chat about the new fan zone where he clarifies some , but not all of the points on this thread is via the Albion Unlimited podcast on BBC Sounds where he's interviewed by Johnny Cantor. PS: He's very clear that he hopes its used on non matchdays (talked about it being hired out ) ...
that's more i think that the mock ups illustrate what it looks like on the opportunites to open it up when the weather suits, - which Barber talked about in his interview - rather than its not possible to close off when its raining like the other day. .
My take is fair enough to make the comparisons given that Box Parks can and were used as pre- match experiences for the Wembley games.
Its obviously similar because its a seated, covered space with bars, food outlets, music, tables, toilets and screens. It's not similar because it will be far...
Dicks Bar has been free for a decade - and the Seven Stars - a sort of halfway house bar/lounge thing with entrance was a damp squib.
Some people would pay to get in I guess but no need - all about increasing the revenue per fan. And making em hang around / arrive earlier, and improving...
It’s where the drinks/food outlets are now so in between the ticket office/meeting point (the crest circle) and the row of mini vans hosting the coffee, DJ, fish/chips, drinks vans.
Hardly any PL clubs have fanzones like this (no space, ££ for investment, or won’t prioritise fan facilities)
The ones that do - Southampton, Man City - are free. Would you use it if there was an entrance fee ? Of course not.
