It was a mad night, tbh. I ended up driving him (bad boy!) in a 2 CV to the Market Diner, where he bought us both a Gutbuster to soak up the booze and he regaled me with tales of his life and loves.
Then I drove him back to The Grand, where the doorman struggled to open the door of the car for...
I was privileged to have spent a couple of hours with him, along with John Martyn, getting quite pickled and he had us both in stitches with his humour.
