Kindling, East Street, Brighton
Had been planning to go here for ages based on the very good reviews online and when friends said they were coming down to Brighton it seemed like the ideal opportunity.
Looked at the drinks menu and was pleased to see a couple of 0% beers on there - a pilsner...
We went last year and had the restricted tasting menu - it was nice but not a patch on the full one. Spoke to the manager and she said they weren't sure if they would ever bring back the full tasting menu :(
If you're down the Cornwall area then Nathan Outlaw's New Road is well worth a visit. It might get you over the 'don't want to go out' feeling. Utterly fantastic.
Try Interlude in Horsham ( or just outside ) - I think that falls within your geographical boundaries. Only thing being, I don't know if they do lunch. The food is top notch ( one star I believe ) but a little out there.
Colosseo - Boundary Road, Hove ( and before the snobs turn their noses up at the location, the area has had a number of decent restaurants pop up over the last few years ! ).
Have to say, certainly one of the best Italians in the city.

Can't say I'd ever consider a Cote after I went there with Mrs WS and she was served very pink chicken .... the response - "It's meant to be pink.". Didn't pay for it in the end.
I won't post what going to Restaurant Gordon Ramsey cost on Saturday then ! Although I will post a review in the next few days.
