No-one knows what we offered him, but it's been reported as his decision not to stay after talks with the club.
I strongly suspect any offer we would make would be heavily based on his likely appearances next season.
And that would certainly have been a significant drop.
Lallana hasn't left...
Good interview. He's a class act, of course.
I'm a little disappointed, but not surprised, that he thinks he still has any football left in him.
He hasn't.
If there is any truth in the "family reasons" statement, he has a choice of 3 clubs to go to.
All 3 of them are on an upward curve and...
I'm glad he's not signed an extension, but i would still have liked to see him at the club in a coaching role.
His experience and the expectation of the levels required from the players was very useful.
He hasn't announced his retirement, which seems that he is looking to continue playing.
I...
Nope. No-one is thinking that.
Plenty of us thinking about freeing up wages for an experienced player that will be able to complete 90 minutes once a week.
Yeah I do.
But I wouldn't describe 60 minutes of being ok as anything more than it is.
The post I responded to indicated that it was a performance to "shut the doubters up"
We can't afford to buy the players we need, because we are paying wages to players who contribute 30 mins per appearance and in that period can only provide a basis for other players to create opportunities.
He' s a luxury player.
21/22 - Averaged 60 minutes per appearance
22/23 - averaged...
You mean he helped us hold on for a loss?
Surely the type of player we want to come on in those situations, is someone who can affect the game and create opportunities?
No?
Total luxury player.
Doesn't score or assist and can't play more than 45 minutes a week.
Lovely to watch, but he doesn't add anything to us, on the pitch, that others can't.
100 appearance at an average of 48 minutes per appearance, over 4 seasons.
2/3s of those minutes from his first two...
The big advantage they bring, is precisely how they were used last night.
Experience and quality at the end of the game.
They should not be starting games, IMO.
Save them, for when we need them.
Taking Lallana off at 45/60 once a week, isn't taking advantage of his qualities.
