I think impatience is the root cause of 90% of the problems on the road among both cyclists and drivers. Everybody is in a hurry these days and has to knock 15 seconds off every journey. Overlooking the fact that the stress this causes is probably knocking a few hours off their lives...

In which the assault is an unprovoked attack, since the cyclist's abuse is aimed at the driver, not him. Three idiots instead of two doesn't make it any better.

Pretty much my thoughts. Both are idiots and should be send for anger management counselling. But the driver is the bigger moron. I wouldn't want to be on the road on a bike or in a car when he's about. Clearly hasn't got much of a clue about driving responsibly.
