I was just about to add this as I thought it had been missed. I also love Force 10 From Navarone. I'll add The Wild Geese. So many good war films. I saw that in the cinema and haven't seen it since - I should probably watch it again.

Agreed. I looked up a list of the best war films on Saturday - going through some of them with the kids. Watched Full Metal Jacket on Saturday. Impossible to pick a winner really as there are so many different stories to tell about war, and so many good films highlighting different aspects.
