I can't remember, but some years ago when I was looking at countries of the world, and the definition of a country etc. Country isn't usually a meaningless term and countries usually have a seat at the UN, they get a vote in world affairs etc. The English language is of course colourful, but...
Did people here say they do know what being Scottish really means? Not a claim I've seen here. We know you have your own values etc, as do we. Do you know what being English means?
And what is this 'little englander' mentality you speak of?
So you're saying the declaration was wrong then?
That's a useful insight. I used to game with a Scotsman who. thanks to what I have to assume is Russian style propaganda, was convinced that the GDP per capita in Scotland was higher than in London, and that his taxes were basically funding Londoners.
No. This has been debated on here before, so I won't try and bore everyone, but briefly...
There are definitions of what a country is:
Have control of your borders
Have control of your laws
Maybe have your own military, I forget
Be recognised as a country by other countries
Have your own...
No, you are mistaken. I did not say that the SNP want to unilaterally declare independence, I said:
That says nothing about whether or not they'd have a referendum. The fact is, Scotland do not have the right to declare independence. They do not have the right to have a referendum on...
Yes, you're confused. Different parts of a country cannot declare independence, even if they ask the people in that region. For example, Cornwall also don't have the right to have a referendum on independence.
This. Different parts of any country don't automatically have the right to declare independence. The poisoned rat simply used it to cry that democracy is being prevented, which it isn't.
Has independence been bad for Ireland?
