The only possible answer, is that he's got a crap dad.
If my kids were given a footy top of another UK club I'd simply say we can't accept it, or sell it.
Fair enough, I don't have any set-in-stone rules when you don't live here.
I know a Brighton fan whose kids were supporting Fulham (and Brighton) because the Withdean was crap and they were often treated to a box at Fulham. I didn't get it, and they said some BS about letting their kids lead...
 quite right too. And after saying it, I trust you stuck him in the cupboard for an hour, before making him apologise in front of everyone.
I didn't have a problem, my kids supported Brighton before they knew who Chelsea were. I taught them that decent people support their local team, and...

Perhaps it should be a concern the kind of person I am, given the lengths I'd go to to stop my kids supporting another team. Using the OPs example, I'd be crying in front of my 4-year-old...
Lol, I'd have just told him he wasn't. It's just basic morality. My kids support the local team that I support, that's it, there is no other option.
The only exceptions are if you don't live with your child, or you don't support the local team.
Obviously he can't wear his shirt, and he can't...

You can convince your son there's a tooth fairy and father christmas, hell you could get him to blow himself up in the name of religion if you were so inclined, but you can't get him to support your team. Fishing or you need to grow a pair.
