A-****ing-men.
We had to pay CMS until the end, no one expected him to leave without pay. When a player does well, why do people think they suddenly deserve more? And Stephens was paid through an injury, as you'd expect.
If he's still here, I'll be cheering him on and hoping he has a good season.
If he was desperate to leave, you'd think he'd hand in a transfer request before the last game of the season. As it is, he signed a contract which he's obliged to stick to and he's very well paid (better than just about anyone here). He's also been offered a pay rise if he'd like it.
You agreed...
I'm in Chesham - I'm going to 'break down' at an inconvenient section of motorway - if he doesn't get to the medical, he stays.
Can someone else deal with the M6?
Handing in a request is not exactly unprofessional, it's just the timing of it. For all we know he'll still knuckle down and play to his best if he stays, although I suspect he'll be off.
If he said to the club a couple of weeks ago 'I'm happy to stay if you get a top striker', the club would have told him their view if we don't get the striker (ie, you're staying regardless) - he could then have handed in a request to leave.
I think it's unlikely he's done this on the last day...
I didn't say he wasn't allowed the opinion, I just pointed out that rotting in the reserves wouldn't be good for Tony's wallet, and therefore not good for the club.
If I was desperate to move, and the club said they'd reject offers and keep me, I'd hand in the transfer request long before the last day of the season.
Too late Dale. The club told you they'd like to keep you. If you want to forgo your bonus and request a transfer, you don't do it on transfer deadline day.
