I think you'll find that most of us knew it was a trick question straight away, and knew that there was no missing £1 and that you were simply confused/fishing.

What other pound? There's the £27 total, which covers the £25 bill and the £2 tip, but you're still thinking of the £30 original payment, which is no longer relevant, as that bill was wrong and ignored.
