No Southern Trains Most of Next Week -but will probably still be rubbish on the other days

Reckon Theresa May should order Grayling to commute to and from his workplace by public transport for a month. Government transport policy would transform overnight. And Grayling would be on a disciplinary charge for poor time-keeping.

Chris Grayling will be out on his ear first time anybody gets a chance to not vote for him. And will be out on his ear from the Tory front bench WAY before then

No Southern Trains Most of Next Week -but will probably still be rubbish on the other days

Why? There's only so far you can push a third of a million people without something major giving. Even a third of a million normally phlegmatic British commuter people.

Hopefully there will be some sort of credible opposition in place long before 2020. Else we're all f*cked on every level.

Think you might be underestimating the strength of feeling somewhat. There's huge numbers of commuter constituents at the end of their tether bombarding their local MPs on a daily basis over this issue. It's affecting their lives hugely. Check out #southernfail for example.

I think you'll find that most people, up to to and including the most vehement anti-union Tory voters, are intelligent enough to acknowledge that the level of service provided by Southern is a disgrace on a daily basis, not just on the handful of strike dates.

This does actually appear to be becoming a genuine election-changer in the Southern region, in that it's an issue that is genuinely affecting people's lives more forcefully and costing them far more economically than any other single issue. How long before the Association of British Commuters...

No Southern Trains Most of Next Week -but will probably still be rubbish on the other days

It's a very very tricky one. Most employers in my experience are reasonably understanding and will try to accommodate the employee's short-term needs so far as is possible. But in the end a company's prime responsibility is to get the job done. Southern have somehow contrived in a short space of...

Have you considered using National Express coaches as an alternative? I always use them nowadays for an early flight out of Gatwick. They run all through the night to the airport from Pool Valley bus station by The Steine. You get a guaranteed seat (you book your journey online in advance)...

Personally have booked the Chinook helipad for £120. Includes free programme

No way should the army even contemplate getting their hands dirty on this one. It's not like the firemen's strike. Nobody's life or property is in danger. Only their livelihood, family life and mental health.

That'll all go to pot next week when every Southern captive within driving distance has the same bright idea and makes a beeline for their nearest SWT station.

For sure. Not the best half-bright idea the transport think tank ever had.

A third of a million people can't service London's commercial needs for one entire working week? The army will/won't provide replacement bus services for those third of a million people for that week? Something's going to give next week. And it won't be pretty. But it may well be conclusive...

Wouldn't worry unduly. All this BS will be brought to a head next week shirley? Suspend one of the main arteries into London for an entire working week and heads will start to roll pretty damn quick. With a bit of luck it'll all be over by the end of the month with a major market readjustment...

Not much in the way of recent updates on the Army being dragooned into driving a mega-fleet of commuter replacement buses. Hopefully the Army chiefs told the cabinet exactly where to get off on that bright idea.
