There's a Victim surcharge on most magistrate's cases, including motoring offences, like speeding, bald tyres etc.
It doesn't apply to the 'victim' of that particular offence, unfortunately. It all goes into a central pot.
No, it goes to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, to deal with compensation claims from people who have been physically or mentally injured because they were the blameless victim of a violent crime in England, Scotland or Wales.
I don't think nasty chanting is classed as violent.
It isn't magnified because we're in the Prem. Leicester has always been bad for homophobic chanting. I can remember 'we can see you sucking cock' several years ago. I had enough points for a ticket, but chose not to go to this game, because it is such a hateful place to go.
You don't need to. I saw a Brighton fan thrown out by stewards and police at Sunderland for calling the ref the c word. The legislation is already there.
She would have been sitting down at the front? Did you see her there?
Did you see her talking to stewards and hear their conversations or are you just having a go on Nsc, where Liz can't answer back?
I've been to lots of matches with Liz so I know how she listens, takes notes, and has written...
I don't belong to those 'banter' groups, and left the Goldstone group because of a couple of posters. I do report homophobic posts on Facebook and Twitter whenever I see them. I know people have had temporary bans from Facebook because of their racism and/or homophobia.
All it takes for evil to...
I agree with you and don't join in with those chants.
Surely we can support the team, chant our players names & keep off the childish illegal stuff? I really don't think it helps the team when we're abusing opposition fans.
Oh well, let's all give up then. Of course there will be setbacks, but this is one of the best threads we've had about homophobic abuse, where more people are realising it isn't banter, but criminal.
It will take time, but eventually it will be as abhorrent as racism.
There are right & wrong ways to react. Getting into a skirmish is the wrong way. Just stating the obvious.
If I'd heard it, then I would've reported it to the stand manager/ head steward.
The police are already using their time and resources by attending a football match. It also has to be done in conjunction with the relevant club and stewards. CCTV is widely available now so the clubs can pinpoint who starts the chants.
Fans have already been in court & banned from football...
Every time this subject gets discussed, there are thick ones who invariably quote We can see you holding hands.
Try being a little more original and discuss the problem sensibly.
