So taking a team from the relegation zone in League 1 to 4th in the Championship whilst selling 3 or 4 players was a downfall? Ok.
Hopefully then Oscar selling Bridcutt, Barnes & El-Abd will mean massive success this season by your logic.
Bloom & Poyet said that any player who was wanted by a club above us could be sold. Crofts went into the Championship from League 1 in 2010 and the other two went in 2011 & 2012 respectively.
If you refuse players a chance to play in a higher division, you end up with a resentful player. It was...
Benno also had his head turned especially after seeing Crofts go to Norwich. He put in a tranfer request which was rejected. Apart from the Watford cup game, he still played and gave of his best.
Do you blame Oscar for not persuading Bridcutt to stay?
Is there anything else we can blame Poyet for? World poverty, the Somerset floods, the increase in cancers, the Tube strike?
Poyet wanted to keep Benno (see my post above about Prem clubs) As for not giving youth a chance, he gave JFC, Goodwin, Barker and others their chances.
That wasn't your accusation. I quote 'He sold a very consistent Elliott Bennett for peanuts'
As I understand it, any player who was approached by a Prem club could be sold. He did well to persuade Benno to stay to the end of the season, and help us get promoted. Benno still gave 100% in that time.
It's usually easier and less messy just to pay off managers. Slade was accused of fiddling his expenses when Yeovil sacked him. They didn't go through the rigmarole of gross misconduct. He still fought his case even though he was sacked and was cleared, but by then he was our manager.
We know for a fact that he refused to handle the retained list. That is a breach of contract and constitutes gross misconduct in itself. I've no doubt that that there were other reasons.
It was handy for the club to use employment law to sack him as it meant he couldn't be paid 2.5 million...
