Have you tried https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/38381/fast-image-resizer I used to use it, it has a lot of features, but for simple, no frills, resizing, http://imageresizer.codeplex.com/ is a featherweight.

Afore mentioned Imageresizer does this also. You can select as many images as you want to resize, right click on the selection, set what size you want them to be changed to, 4 pre-sets, or custom size, and also you can retain the original image.

This, saves the need for anything else. Just right click on your image file and choose "resize"
