That was then this is now.
We've not played without Stephens, in a better side against considerably better opposition.
Swapping Stephens for Gross is a little bit different to swapping him for Rohan Ince.
But even with that said, I do agree it's a stooopid idea.
I hope he does, assuming we can dodge the 'he's shit - Discuss' threads Saturday evening, him starting will certainly be preferable to 'we'd have won if Jurgen started' threads.
That said I'm sure 'Barnes would have scored that' will rear it's ugly head.
Blimey you are making this hard work.
I believe if CH had other options, ones familiar to him, in the case of Propper that would have been Kayal, Kayal would have taken quite a lot of game time from Propper.
As Kayal or anyone else wasn't available CH had no choice but to play Propper, not...
What I said was:-
Jose has often been rotated, while Propper and Gross clearly would have had less game time if Kayal was available.
You said:-
I asked who would you have played (already in the squad) in their places?
From then on you seem to have got a bit silly without actually...
None of which do it as well as Gross even when Pascal didn't have the striker options the team has now.
So who are you playing instead of Propper and Ryan in the first half of the season?
Gross hasn't suffered with end product, in their half of the pitch he has repeatedly been the only shining light.
Gross needs attacking movement around him.
The moment the opposition become afraid of Jose and AK/Solly then Pascal has the space and time to control the game.
He can't do that when...
In fairness KdB did nothing last night.
If last night City had bought on a striker, instead of him, they'd have put away a few of those 20 chances created in the last 15 minutes...
...oh, hang on a minute!
CH's substitutions might not be so scripted anymore now he has a monster bench to choose from.
Murray on 60 minutes.
Gross on 65 minutes.
Winger swap on 85 minutes.
Oh come on.
Murray - pass or shoot?
March - Has been lacking in end product all season, partly because of the speed of the opposition.
Jose - If you thought he cut in too much before his recent goals!!
Stephens - From 30 yards away.
Propper - Stood next to Stephens.
Pascal is the most gifted...
Deffo.
As said on the Locadia thread the Guardian's Dutch football corespondent was a little reluctant in setting the bar too high for him, but she did say 'he's never had a player like Gross pulling the strings behind him'.
Having given that a little more thought I've remembered she was one...
