If he is, he's certainly not fit enough for football
He can demand all he wants, the difference is they are hollow demands, that have no relevance to the offers any team is prepared to make.
There's no evidence that he's even on the radar.
That's the point, if he's not prepared to work for the money offered, he doesn't work.
His 'wage bracket' doesn't come into it.
Were he still under contract then sure he's holding all the aces, but he's not.
Why is this always so difficult for NSC to grasp.
A footballer out of contract is unemployed.
He's not earning any wage.
Therefore he has no wage bracket.
He might no want to 'work' for what is offered, but he's in no position to demand higher wages.
We are talking about the same Ashley Cole, aren't we?
The same age as Bobby.
Played (albeit only 11 times) for Roma last season.
Capped 107 times for England.
Has 16 major honours to his name.
11 'team/player of the year' awards.
Widely regarded as Roberto Carlos' successor in world football...
None of that is in doubt to us 'normal' people.
You work for considerably less than someone else is prepared to pay without being disgruntled.
That 'only' £5k a week equates to £260,000 a year, or £780,000 over a 3 year contract.
But Arsenal were taking the pi$$, as proven by what Chelski were prepared to pay and what Cole achieved in football, with them.
The fact that it's an obscene amount of money for us is neither here or there.
