Even without hindsight it would have been good for him to have a 1st spell at a rock solid club, under the tutelage of one of the most astute managers, in the Championship away from the bright lights of the Premier League. But I guess short term gains are so much better than developing a career.

It's almost as if you're saying he'd have been better off learning his trade while getting acclimatised in England, away from the 'spotlight'. Thus allowing him to make the step up to Premier League football in a more controlled manner. Still at least his agent has earned a decent wedge, after...
