Just thought I'd share that the Seaford park run test went ahead last weekend. Should start for real next spring.
Personally, haven't been running with persistent Achilles problems, now on my third comeback, the year has been a complete write off.
I'm planning on peacehaven this Saturday (at a slow pace) as part of my Achilles recovery. It's a Seaford Striders club Grand Prix event, I think, so should be busier than normal
Congratulations on a great run, a true lesson to us all about pacing ( hope I heed it on my next race!). Got to agree with you Edinburgh is a great city, they don't seem to do tartan running shirts though?!
Glad you didn't need to run in the heat of Monday, hopefully you had the lovely sea mist...
Still awaiting race report from Complete Badger on Edinburgh marathon. I happen to be in Edinburgh right now for a family break and will trot out for a little run first tomorrow morning. Seems pretty damn hilly round here to me, so guessing the marathon was tough yesterday
Wilted in the heat at Horsham 10k this morning. Complete lack of fitness post Achilles recovery. Managed a PB on flatter course than Crowborough, will take as small positive. 46:10.
My half best from Brighton seems to have disappeared 1:37:48.
Could somebody more ethnically minded do the honours?
Ran Hastings 5 miler today. First full out race pace since Achilles problem suffered post Brighton half. No mileage for two months took it's toll but stuck in there to eek out a shade over 35 minutes. Hopefully more progress and miles at the Horsham 10k next week.
Congratulations knocky1 and Greg Bobkin on your moyleman runs. That was so cold, and exposed up there, had two pairs of gloves on and still couldn't feel my fingers, hope you managed to keep extremities warm. Felt for all passing us to go down the hill at Bo Peep towards the water station...
Congratulations on your efforts thus far, especially if without the support of a running club. I can empathise with the need to invest in running gear, just make sure shorts have sufficient pocket capacity and don't assume all sizes are the same. New balance comes up very big in tops for...
Good luck with the Achilles, initial treatment usual rice, use anti inflammatories,
in terms of exercises build the strength in the Achilles up by standing by window sill, place fingers on sill to help with balance, lift uninjured leg off floor and bend at knee, so all weight on bad Achilles...
Have pulled out of the Hastings half on Sunday, physio warned against running with inflamed Achilles. Gutted.
Might console myself by volunteering for the Moyleman marshalling (free beer and pizza)
Ran my first half marathon yesterday in 1:37:48, pretty chuffed as was aiming for sub 1:45.
Have had nothing but positive feedback about Hastings, times are pretty quick there. It is also the first race in the Sussex club Grand Prix. The competition has been reduced in race numbers to stop...
