Looking to lose a few pounds to get back to optimal weight, what’s the best approach? 5 k interval training? Longer slower runs? Or maybe a mix of it all?
Picked up a bike in lockdown and cyclying to and from work now (around 11 mies in total) but really want to pick up some sort of challange. Mostly doing 5km/10km but pace has certainly dropped in last 6 months.
Maybe I'll start a new 5K training plan...
On the back of the high of today's brilliant performance got home and set off for a 10K, happy to come in under 50mins for the first time in years and years! Maybe the 5K training and positive Albion result came together!
The 1 mile speed sessions won't be fun tomorrow though.....
Just checking what this training entails?
“200m turnarounds:
200m, 45 rec., turn, 200m.
(3 sets of 6)”
So I get it’s 200m with recovery, but what does 3 sets of 6 mean? 3 or 6 times in total?
Cheers!
I have a Garmin watch (vivoactive 3), you can create a workout on the app and then send it to watch. It vibrates at the end if every interval
Ashamed to admit I’ve never actually done an official park run, always just set off and found my own routes, but there is one at Richmond Park which is very near me so I should head up there for an “official time”!
Second session today, have to say halfway through these sessions and I am absolutely hating life but do feel good when they are done.
Today's session was a bit more consistent through the sprint times;
Found it easier than the 1KM speed session for sure.
Ta  Out of interest what would you say should be my "easy" and "steady" pace for my runs between these speed sessions? If going for 7min/miles at full pace....
Thanks to ninja elephant for sending me a 5K plan to follow!
Had the easy runs last week so today was my first ever proper interval session....
Progressively worse and worse as each KM went on haha. Was hoping to stay around the 7min/mile pace with the help of the 90 secs rest. I assume...
I’m very much stuck around the 23:30 for 5K. Have been running quite regularly for nearly a year now, including a horrific and slow marathon in April. Really hoping to get somewhere near my PB of 21:05 but just can’t seem to get anywhere near it.
Have put on a little weight since then and a...
Any recommendations for a winter half marathon?
After what was a really disappointing Brighton marathon I’ve had a couple of weeks off but feel like I really need another target so that I have motivation to carry on the running this year.
Despite hobbling round in my slowest ever time I did...
Anxiety levels are ramping up for Sunday now. Seems so long ago I did those 2 20 milers in training.
Haven’t run a marathon since 2015 and my training times are way down on what I was getting then. I would quite like to just enjoy the day and not worry about the time but I fear my competitive...
Another 20 in the bank today around the Thames.
I think I’m gonna back out the sub 4 hour dream now, these last 2 long runs have been at 9:27 pace, and I feel like 30 seconds is a lot to lose. Even today last few miles I was slowing down a bit. Would rather not blow up at 17 miles in when...
So my training plan has a 20 miler tomorrow, then, 18, 12, race day.
Does that sound about right? 18 two weeks before sounds quite far!
Still not sure what pace I’m looking at. Have run 2 sub 4 hours but I’m not sure I’m up to that at the moment. Thinking of trying a 9:15-9:30/mile pace for...
Pretty sure I have suffered some lower back injury after taking a bit of a tumble after Solly's goal. Had a small run yesterday and still feeling it today. Hoping nothing major!
