Yes. And just to be clear, they can cycle to school with their parents if they have yet to pass, but they cannot cycle on their own until they have passed their bike ability.

Are you still hanging out the bait? You must be getting bored of it by now, surely?

    Stop Cycling up Ditchling Beacon!!!!

Often the case, I'm afraid. We don't allow children to cycle to the school I work at without a pass in their cycling proficiency and a helmet. It would be great if more children cycled to school, though (or at least walked).

It's great when people say "Thread closed". It lends an air of authority that makes the rest of us sit up and take notice. I for one am full of admiration. Alongside the humour of the post, and the sensible suggestions therein, this aura of superiority leaves me in awe. Chapeau.

No. It's not. Everyone pays taxes that contribute to that, and the money from Vehicle Excise Duty does NOT go towards that.

Yes, fine, but everyone is allowed to use the roads - for free! Road tax does not exist. You have not paid for the right to use the roads, you've paid for the right to pollute! The roads are public highways, and car drivers are no more entitled to use them than cyclists. So, live and let live...

I never know whether these posts about road tax are fishing or not. Road Tax was abolished in 1937. 1937. Your tax disc (and mine) is for vehicle excise duty, and relates to the polluting gases that your car emits. Electric cars are exempt, and so are bicycles, as they do not pollute. 1937.
