Some years ago I 'did' the Atkins Diet, which is a form of Keto diet, if extreme. Not just limiting, but almost eliminating carbohydrates from your diet. I lost about a pound a day, once ketosis was triggered.

I follow a 40:30:30 diet and it's worked wonders for me.
The key basis is:
In all meals try to hit 40% Carbs, 30% (good) fats, 30% Protein.
Avoid Processed Carbs like White Bread, Potato, White Rice, White Paste. Try to eat Wholemeal equivalents.
Try to eat carbs with a higher fibre...
