    [Brighton] Valley Gardens works

The two lanes southbound will become one lane southbound and one lane northbound.

SINGLE LANES GO LIVE MONDAY 2nd SEPTEMBER Driving in on the 28th August there was a fire engine, lights and siren going, stuck in what is now a single lane going southbound. Cars, vans & lorries could not get out of its way. Why it did not use the bus lane I don't know. Anyway, from Monday the...

    [Brighton] Valley Gardens works

UPDATE This past week they've cut the south bound road down to the planned one lane for cars along Grand Parade. Add to that it has been the hottest week of the year (century!) and so the traffic was heavier than normal and you get the threatened queues backing up along the A23 and A270 in to...

Go by bike then! But what you've just described is not the roundabout but Kings Road from the pier to the i360. Yes it's bad and if you have time I'll explain why. I work along this stretch of road, near to Buddies. A few years ago the council wanted to put street lighting along the centre of...

But I use that roundabout a lot during peak times in the summer. It works. There are hold-ups but nothing major. The 'no right turn' from pool valley and in front of the Queens Hotel. Taxis ignore that anyway but it will effect me as I drive from the Old Ship and turn at the roundabout to go...

    [Brighton] Valley Gardens works

As the thread starter it's nice to see everyone following up on this. I'm only going in to the town a couple of days a week at the moment and the hold ups aren't that bad as there is little traffic on the roads. Christmas could be fun and games with Churchill Square getting filled up but then...

Jack Straw Some wonderful photos. Stat Brother I'm not asking for a motorway put through the middle. We all agree that the gardens DID look beautiful and at the moment the traffic, whilst moving very slow, at least moves. So why change it? The gardens wont be much bigger except for a small strip...

Moving the traffic jam is what the new road system will do except they are sending all A23 and A270/27 traffic into one lane outside St. Peters Church. I'm in the tourist industry so see couples now coming by train but for a family holiday with cases it won't work.

    [Brighton] Valley Gardens works

Brighton is a tourist town so that's never going to happen. But with parking at £30 a day surely a very good park and ride scheme is the best option, especially with bus lanes being the high priority in town. A real P&R with the cost being that they have to buy an all day bus ticket. The down...

    [Brighton] Valley Gardens works

The starting point maybe is to look at where the traffic clogs up. A23 is London Road and A270 is The Level. My guess is that the plan is to limit the amount of cars getting into these roads thus unclogging them, in a similar way to smart motorways. By allowing one car every 10 seconds that car...

    [Brighton] Valley Gardens works

#Stat Brother I live in Uckfield and work in Brighton. Public transport is not possible because of my work hours. I admit something has to be done regarding the roads simply because they are congested. I don't see how cutting the two lanes of busy traffic leaving the seafront down to one lane is...

    [Brighton] Valley Gardens works

On Monday the town centre is going to be closed down for a few months (you thought a bloke throwing bricks was bad?) whilst the council upgrade Valley Gardens. Those unsure this is the area where the Lady Boys pitch their tent. I've had a hard look at the plans and, from what I can see, they are...
