    [Cricket] The Ashes - England v Australia - 5th Test, Oval, July 27-31, 2023

Bairstow has found his form in the last couple of tests, after a bad injury. I would pick him for India.

    [Cricket] The Ashes - England v Australia - 5th Test, Oval, July 27-31, 2023

The plan was to try to regain the Ashes. We nearly did and played some brilliant cricket along the way. Looking forward to the next attempt.

Yeah, I feel the same about it although I have seen more than 2 minutes, if only on tv. It seems odd to have the T20 and the 100 so if it’s a choice for a live short form match then I prefer to watch Lancashire than Manchester. I’m sure a lot of you feel the same about Sussex and Southern...

Good grief. If you didn’t enjoy that then you need to take a look at yourself.

Air of inevitability about Broad finishing them off. What a day.

Great catch and well done to Marsh for walking. The pundits think there is no spirit of cricket but clearly not all current players agree (even Aussies).

Stokes dropped it and he knew it. Why does he think we shouldn’t lose a review ?

Judging by those weather forecasts above this is now a 1 day match then. Perhaps aim for 300 from 45 overs then declare ?

Wearing each other’s shirts to draw attention to the problems faced by people with dementia. That sounds like getting everyone drunk to draw attention to the problems faced by alcoholics…

I think you mean ‘back the the early 20th century.’ Sounds like you yearn for the pre war days of timeless tests. Change does not always mean progression and in this case your desired outcome of a result was actually guaranteed in the old days.

Yes, go to the ECB website. You will need to buy in the priority window. I think they sell out months before the match starts so a bit late for this year. https://www.ecb.co.uk/privacy/supporters-terms Edit; Saying ‘sold out’ for every day on the Oval website.

    [Cricket] The Ashes - England v Australia - 5th Test, Oval, July 27-31, 2023

I’m really looking forward to this match. Drawing a series against the world test champions would be a pretty decent achievement and one on which to build. Should be a really entertaining match. No need to take your stumps home just because we can’t win the Ashes back…….this time.
