    Usually refs take the goalkeeper out of the calculation. If a player is through on goal with only the keeper to beat and a defender chops him down then most people would agree with a red card despite the keeper being in position to save.

    Yes. And the ban for two yellows is one game but the ban for some reds is two or three games so Fletcher will be banned for 3 games for violent conduct; whether he had a yellow already would not have made no difference.
