Alonso’s penalty now being reviewed at the weekend (Mexico). Does seem a bit rum, bits hanging off car- steward’s have the option of flagging for car to pit and resolve said hanging thing, stewards don’t do that, then post-race Alonso is punished.
Seems more like the race operators should have...
4 more races to go this season with nothing to play for [emoji1]
Would be good to see the teams go into full ‘testing’ mode with loads of upgrades trying stuff in preparation for next season.
2023 would great to have Red Bull, Ferrari and Merc all competing at the front.
Ah I see. Haven’t seen a replay of the start yet which is odd- I’ve been watching for an hour and they have time to fill! Maybe replay the first few laps pre-Red flag?
So are they going to re-start on inters or wets? [emoji16][emoji2357]
Couldn’t help but watch that race end thinking- this is what happens when the rules are followed.
Personally I have no problem with the race finishing under the safety car. Very few F1 races have a grandstand finish, normally the guy in first place is managing his pace / engine cruising around...
Looking at the times, Max is around 1.5 seconds per lap faster than everyone bar the Ferraris so I expect him to be up behind Leclerc in no time. Then will either overtake or wait for Ferarri to bring him in for a 3 wheel pitstop onto the wrong tyre choice
Danny Ric as a Merc reserve drive seems far fetched but who knows. He does seem out of any decent options. But race winner to reserve driver seems a crazy path. And hanging around waiting for Hamilton to hang up his helmet sounds like a v awkward dynamic.
Russell is 100% sound as a future No. 1...
I think it’s a decent shout that whether the safety cars happened or not, and whatever the strategy choices, Max V looked faster than both Mercs and probably would have made it to first place anyway.
It was frustrating to watch though.
Plus side- Mercs now seem closer so could be closer for...
I could see Danny Ric at Williams- he says he wants a competitive car but he hasn’t had one since he left Red Bull so that shouldn’t be an issue [emoji12]
