He's mad. I think he does a Parkrun on the way to our Surrey League xc races. I need all the energy I can muster for them! Nice guy, spoke to him after a recent LFOTM 5k at Hyde Pk. He wins most of them too.

Bloody annoyed. Went to Australia in the summer and got the V50 course records at Gold Coast Main Beach, Melbourne Albert Pk & Perth WA University. What a waste of money ;)

No bad for a fellow old boy like me! The weather does tend to act like that though doesn't it.....

Me and my mate were watching just at the sign where the half marathoners go off to the right, although we may have just gone by the time you went through. I've only done two (London and Berlin) so MK would be stuff on nightmares - I know the area and the redways would do my head in. They are...

No worries. Torun is called 'Mini Krakow' so I'm sure it's got one too.

Torun parkrun looks nice. I was over there in March for the World masters indoors but didn't get round to doing it. Did run over to it a couple of days later, in a Forest at the end of a massive council estate! Torun itself worth a visit too. Try the 20zl mega kebab from the Kebab shop (there's...

I'd be wary of Brioche - isn't that a croissant type of thing? All I know is that for me, croissants just cause indigestion/heartburn and have no calorific value at all. Flapjack and a snickers are my pre cross country staple..

Like the idea of the Brighton Challenge - When I'm down in Poole visiting the folks I often go past Dean Court on route to the beach on a 15/16 miler. Obviously been on the same site for ever, only turned round 90 degrees!

Sensible idea to up the distance and take the speed down. I'm with you with the speed sessions, i'm 41 and its the long Sunday runs that are the killer for me - at least the shorter sessions are over quicker. Thats why I prefer the shorter races - my one and only marathon was London in 2004....I...

Yes it's the old addage - train slow, run slow. It's a bit extreme, but gets the point across. Always funny to see the improvement in novice runners once they get some speedwork under their belt and get a bit of spring in their step. It's not the nicest of sessions, but as always, they are the...

I'd usually go for one long run a week, longest at 22 miles seems fine with a two week taper. Perhaps some mile reps on the Tuesday - 6 x 1 mile at a faster pace? Don't just plod out miles, make sure you do some faster stuff too.

Anyone out there do the Southern cross country champs at Parliament Hill yesterday? 15k of mud or muddy grass with the consistency of swiss cheese! Saw a few Brighton and Hove and Phoenix vests out on the course. Least that's done for another year....Attempting to go for a 10 mile run shortly...

Its really a try and see thing with pre race food (i agree with the night before stuff). I found I would get dody guts with bananas and porridge etc, so I stick to black tea/coffee, toast & jam and a flapjack. But I go for eating 3 hours before the race as a minimum.
