Plenty of reasons I reckon.
Solidarity with the player who is adamant he didn't do it? Show the premier league we're no pushovers at this level? Tell the fans we're not afraid? Develop a 'hard-done by' narrative? Desperation because we haven't got any other strikers? Deflect our lack of...
Doesn't look bad, does look like he deliberately stepped on him, therefore I expect a ban of three games in accordance with (g) The wider interests of football in applying consistent sanctions.
Fair enough, he would know :)
Surely the FA couldn't give a longer ban to Hemed than they have to either Shelvey or Britos, just because we've appealed. Would look so petty and would be tantamount to saying that no-one is allowed to appeal ever.
But this is of course the FA
Is this actually an appeal though? No punishment has yet been handed out. I reckon we're free to contest the decision without being at risk of the ban lengthened
Oh no, he absolutely accepted we had failed on the Albion Roar last week, he has just defended the process - which by extension, means defending all of his staff like a good manager does. I'm also certain that he wants to move on. I don't think a mea culpa helps anybody right now.
Hmmm, wouldn't that make the word 'uncertain' redundant? doesn't that cover any degree of certainty from 0-100, from 'absolutely no idea' to 'I think I know (but not certain)'
Yes but also we're bloody lucky to have him, the way this club is being run now compared to Stanley and Lloyd, Archer and Belotti, .. even, and I apologise profusely for listing them in the same sentence, Knight and Perry at Withdean - Barber and Bloom have transformed us.
So whilst I...
Yes - of course, that was how it happened wasn't it. Daft rule, because of course the referee can't have seen the incident properly, or he'd have sent him off. So the ref is basically saying, yes I saw the incident, and Barton didn't tread on him. And the FA says, fine, no problem, clearly your...
Its not the FA that decide on a ban though, its a panel of three former referees and all have to agree. Considering that both Graham Poll and Dermot Gallagher have said they're not sure about it, there has to be a decent chance he won't get the ban.
I think he meant it personally. We'd be...
I'm trying to work out if this clip has been messed with. The full replay of the incident from behind looks to start at full speed, slow right down at the moment he lands on him - which makes it look deliberate - and then speed up again. But I can't be sure?
I think after what happened to shelvey and mitrovic this season Newcastle will be all over this, and can't blame them.
Is it the same disciplinary lot that let barton off? If so then should be ok?
