[Cricket] Third test: England v India at Southampton, Jul 27-31

Woakes looks pretty good - he was unlucky in this Test. Jordan, I agree, does not look up to it at the moment. Botham was saying that Finn appears to getting back to near his best. They should give Onions a go but Tremlett amazes me - how someone that tall and strong can bowl so slowly! Am not...

Well we'll see, but he rips it harder than the Indian "spinners" and is working very hard on his game. I think he will do well in time.

Oh and Buttler was excellent too. That's the end of Matt Prior's England career.

All true, but it shows the character of the man. First time for nearly 3 years he has scored 50 in both innings of a test match. All of the senior players stood up in this game, which had been sorely lacking. This should do them and him a world of good. We will win the next 2 now.

Great stuff. 6 wickets for a "part time" spinner - I think he could become a gem. England win by 266 runs. Man of the match - Captain Cook for me. Scored runs and did everything right as captain.

Another very poor decision to get rid of Ballance. 80-2 at lunch. Another 100 in the next session and get India in before tea.

Hasn't he just! Flair. Sign him up! Good stuff from England. Looks like they are not going to enforce the follow on.

And we have a proper No11 at the crease!

Yes, that sounds right. I always remember him managing to bat for just over an hour on the "corrugated tin roof" pitch in Jamaica in the late 90's until the match was abandoned. He must have been hit by the ball at least 5 times and managed to score 9 not out. They were just talking about it on...

Well played Captain Cook. A fine innings under intense pressure. Class is permanent

Great stuff. I see that Alec Stewart's total of 8463 is also his birthday - 8th April 1963! Good bit of trivia that.
