Interesting delve back in time again last night. I went to two separate gigs, albeit in the same building. First up was Midge Ure doing a solo acoustic set and regaling us with stories from his experiences such as when they had to wake Boy George up in New York on the day they recorded Band Aid...
I spent an enjoyable evening last night with China Crisis on their 40th anniversary tour. I was blown away by how great they are at entertaining a crowd between songs. Simple, self-deprecating humour mostly. A really, really fun evening.
Can't wait for this tomorrow night. Not a huge Sting fan (at all) but his reggae/Caribbean album with Shaggy is wonderful. In a small standing-only club, too.
And I'm kinda hoping they combine to do Regatta De Blanc, always my favourite Police track after Can't Stand Losing You and Roxanne.
Steve Earle and the Dukes tomorrow evening. Copperhead Road 30th anniversary tour. Feeling very old, especially as I first saw Super Steve around the Guitar Town years.
Midge Ure last night in T.O. Some Ultravox, some solo and Visage's Fade To Grey, which he wrote, of course.

I went all cultured this week and attended the opening night of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. It featured the world premiere of a suite based on the music for the film The Life of Pi, and they had flown Bombay Jayashri in from India to sing this little beauty
Next up, the Sherlocks.
